At Phoenix Centre for Acupuncture, we have extensive experience in working with a diverse range of other pain conditions. While we cannot alleviate all pain, often we can help reduce it or help you manage it!

Headaches, including migraines, are a common condition which we often see. Usually we treat these with a range of strategies including lifestyle changes such as relaxation techniques, nutrition and exercise as well as traditional Chinese medicine techniques such as acupuncture and cupping. Headaches have been shown to respond to acupuncture.i

There are a range of illnesses that cause pain including: shingles, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, polymyalgia and frozen shoulder. These conditions are difficult to treat with biomedicine and while we cannot cure the condition or illness, we may be able to help to reduce or manage your pain. Again, a range of techniques are used when treating these conditions including stretching, cupping and acupuncture.

Abdominal or digestive pain may be caused by a number of things such as food retention and bloating, constipation and reflux. Pain is often associated with irritable bowel syndrome. There can be many causes of abdominal or digestive pain including stress. This pain, particularly if it is caused by stress, may respond well to acupuncture.ii Before treating this pain, we will look at all the possible causes including stress and diet. The treatment may include a range of strategies including acupuncture, cupping, nutritional advice and relaxation techniques.

In managing any kind of pain, lifestyle advice is also a vital part of the treatment. The advice you may be giving could include information about: nutrition and hydration, exercise and activities, relaxation and other modalities that could assist such as massage.
